N. C. d.9-22-1865 and Mahala Duncan b. 6-21-1821 in Ga. d.11-27-1879 Saline District of the Cherokee Nation West ( present day Okla ) . I would like to find the parents of James Smith West . He and Mahala migrated to Okla prior to the Trail of Tears , Mahala and their children are all listed on The Old Settler Rolls for the Cherokee in Okla . Three of their sons served in Wadies 1st and 2nd Mounted Rifles in The Civil War and are buried in the West family Cemetary in Strang Okla along with related family members . Our ancestor William North West will have a Civil War marker placed at his grave along with memorial services : hopefully by the Sons of The Civil War , June 5, 1999.
