I have a Simon West in Spartanburg SC born about 1784 with wife Kizziah Boiter. My line is through their son, John Pickney West and wife, Arilla Angeline Jennings. Does anyone know the parents of Simon West?
Hi all, I am searching for information regarding Simeon W. West, b. abt.1796 in NY or MA, d. after 1860, md. Charlotte Smith, b. abt. 1817 in CT, daughter of John Rossiter and Delight CHURCH Smith. Simeon West is enumerated in the 1850 US Census for Granville Township, Bradford County, PA as 54 years of age, property valued at $1,000, a farmer born in MA, along with wife Charlott , 34, born CT, and children Mary A. West, 5, born PA; Martha E. West, 1, born in PA. Also listed are Martin West 21, a farmer, from PA, and Andrew West, 19 a farmer, from PA. These could be children from a former marriage. Simeon W. West is enumerated in the 1860 US Census for Granville Township, Bradford County, PA as a 62 year old farm hand born in NY. Also listed are wife Charlotte, 42, from CT, and sons Barthe, 10 and Davius, 7 both born in PA. I've identified their children as: Lovera Clarinda West, b. 1833 in PA ,married Dewitt Clinton Ayers Mary Ann West, b. 27 Jan 1844 in PA, married Philander Ayers John R. West, b. abt. 1847 in PA Martha E. West, b. abt. 1849 in PA Barthe West, b. 1850 in PA Davius West, b. 1852 in PA Norman Wilson West, abt. 1853 in PA There was also a Simeon West in Columbia Township, Bradford County, PA at the same time (1850-1880), married to Phebe Baxter. This Simeon was born in 1794/95 in MA and they had 10 children and are buried together in Baptist Hill Cemetery in Bradford County, PA. I believe this to be a totally different family. In the 1870 census for Leroy Township, Bradford County, there is a Simeon West, born 1796 in PA, a blind retired farmer, boarding with another family, and the other Simeon and Phebe are still alive in Columbia Township and I can't find Charlotte in the census. By 1980 Charlotte is living with one of her grandchildren in Columbia Township, Bradford and I can't find any Simeon anywhere. Any ideas? Kathy
My extra lobe was on the inner side of a molar. Unfortunately, the tooth is history (I'm 71) so I can't remember all the particulars. It was fully attached to the molar and interested many dentists. I'd rather have the high arches some Wests have! I loved the sites that Clara sent and all the others. Thank you soooooooo much. With this group hot on the trail for facts and confirmations - I don't think the wait will be long to have all of our questions answered. I am in the process of re-reading the Seven Daughters of Eve. And there is an entire chapter devoted to blood types. I know it much be in libraries and by now it should be out in paper. I cannot recommend this book highly enough. It will have you running around wanting to scrape everyone's cheek. LOL This entire DNA checking is such a gift to all of us. Not only are we walking upright (I do have my doubts about a couple of cousins though) we are living in a time when we can be connected thousands of years back giving us some idea as to how we ended where we are. The West lines are kinda tough. But my cousin in Moline, Ill has compiled a wonderful list of ALL our West ancestors and not just a straight line down but each and every sibling from the early 1600's as to who they married and who their kids married. It's a large file: 47 or so pages. Some of the lines are of no interest to me but all of the West information might just help you who are looking for lost West's. Some are in Kentucky/ Tennessee/ Montana/ the colonies/Washington, just a whole bunch of West's. If anyone wants this file I will send it to you. I can do it in WORD or WP. let me know. And the ridge at the back of your head (not everyone has one - my husbands head is totally round and smooth) is called the occipital ridge. Run your hand down the back of your heard. I hit a cliff/ridge of sorts, very pronounced as did my brother and sister. All of this is so fun and I appreciate each and everyone of you. Just know that the important thing here is to get the DNA done. I intend to do just that, have talked my brother in to do it. Now I'm trying to get people to chip in since it would take me a long time to safe that much money. But please, if you have done it yet, please consider it. And again, thank you all for being here. You mentioned high arches on your feet. My sisters and I all have extremely high arches as did my mother who was a WEST. (NC>TN>AR). I have problems sometime buying shoes because of this. I hadn't thought or heard of it coming from the Wests. Greetings, I'm a new subscriber to this list. I will start with one basic question. I am looking for information about my g-g-grandfather, Andrew WEST. Andrew married Ann CROMBIE on December 22, 1837 in Ceres Parish, Fife, Scotland. Andrew and Ann had at least three children: John born about 1845; Mary Ann born about 1851; and Elizabeth born 1856. John is my ancester who married Margaret ROBERTSON in 1868 and they immigrated to Canada sometime before 1869. If anyone if researching this particular line, I'd love to hear from them. Regards, Joan Chapman Montreal, Canada
