What an excellent idea! I didn't know they did this. This would be wonderful! I didn't send for the doc because I thought it was very large and I had her check to see if my Sarah was there. She wasn't, so at this time I wasn't interested in the doc. But having a place where I could go and see it further down the line if I find that it is something I wanted to search would be wonderful!!!! :) Barb In a message dated 4/29/2006 10:24:21 A.M. No Apology necessary as far as I'm concerned. Offering the list is what this West-L is all about. Sharing with others. There appear to be several separate families that made similar journeys about that time, Cindy. Mine left North Carolina and stopped for awhile in Estill County, Kentucky, then moved on to Indiana and settled in Hencricks and Boone Counties. Don't think we have any connections, however. The only Thomas in my line is my uncle and he's not that old. In 1798, Johnston Co., NC, Vincent WEST married Levina HAYS. In both 1810 and 1820 there was Vincent WEST and family in Cumberland Co., NC; he is on the census p570 or 572 in 1810 (the p number is near illegible). On both the census of 1810 and 1820 Vincent was age over 45. I have no further information on Vincent WEST. I do not know that the Vincent WEST of Johnston Co., NC is/is not the same as the Vincent WEST of Cumberland Co., NC. Some folks on this list were interested in a Vincent WEST, so this is being posted; hopefully, as a clue for someone to use. Does anyone have a West family in the Carolinas with a Thomas West born about 1792/3? Does anyone have research on the West families that traveled from NC/SC to IN around 1810. Thomas West born about 1792/3 probably traveled with the Quaker families from NC. to IN., but may not have been a Quaker himself. He married Mary Benbow in Wayne Co., IN. 1816. Married Nancy Gibson in 1828. He died and was buried in Delaware Co., IN. about 1834. His will lists Children: Susan, Edy, Elizabeth, Edward, William and Rachel. My brick wall. Any assistance would be appreciated, thank you, Cindy
Jinny, What kind of document is it, could you describe it? Rootsweb takes all kinds of things at various databases they have subjects from A - Z, as long as it's genealogical, having to do with family history and such. Have you gone to their main homepage and requested a freepage? They will assign one to you where you can post your document, there are sites there that even consists of nothing but a page telling viewers what the names of their ancestors are that they are researching, it's that open to all kinds of formats. Here is the direct address to their Freepages Account request, click onto that link on this page and it gives you instructions and an address you can contact to get more info about it: http://accounts.rootsweb.com/ I, personally don't object to the requests for the documents on the mailing list, but I can see that it is causing a little conflict and don't want to see the list falling into something that becomes unpleasant. Besides, I do lots of lookup requests and can understand that sending out so many responses to the requests for documents at once can be very time consuming. The list is not mine. I have no authority to do this. Sandra is aware of the possibility, and has stated to me she would have to have the permission of her cousin. It is their list, I think we need to leave it up to them. I am posting this to the entire list, because that does sound like a possible good solution, but we need to respect their rights in this and because Sandra is aware of this possibility, leave things up to her. Thank you for your thoughtfulness in this. Hi All, If I need information I would contact the person directly and this should be something any of you should do on all other sites as well. I have found a clutter of the information on other sites and with some common sense one would contact the person directly and with the information they are looking for. Sharon is doing the best she can and if she needs the help I can help her for the Corel users. If you do not have MS Word,Corel Word Perfect try using what comes with the computer ie Word pad/notepad from accessories. Microsoft Works not to many people use it as far as I am concern. A Little bias here. Use what the person has and make it easier for Sharon so can share her information with you. This is to be interesting and rewarding. Now I have said my piece. Deloris I asked early on if there was a place that the document could be posted so people could go and get it on their own, but none was found. There were no suggestions offered nor did anyone else offer space on their personal site. The site you suggested http://www.rootsweb.com/~usfgs/<http://www.rootsweb.com/~usfgs/> is for family group sheets which is not what the document is. I'm not sure it would even post there. I agree that there should be some place on Rootsweb for this type of thing. I would think other family lists have had similar documents to share. Suggestions anyone? What about it List Coordinator?
