    2. I may be rude in asking this question but how do you find out they served in the Rev. war? I am also a decendant of a West but it is not him I am asking about. It is my other GGGGrandfather. I have been told he was and have looked and looked and have never been fortunate enough to know how or where to look. Thanks, EW

    3. My Great Grandfather, James Madison West, said on the census for Marshall Co., MS that his parents came from MD and that he was born Aug 1818 in TN on the 1900 census and I am at a brick wall on this. I am wondering if maybe one of these could be his ancestor/parent. I will work on William and Thomas just in case they went to TN after 1800. Thank you for the information. Edith HorrallW@aol.com wrote: Teresa In your post on Roots Web, you asked about the following men on the Madison County KY 1792 Tax Roll. WEST, Jonathan WEST, Joseph WEST, Nathaniel WEST, Richard WEST, Thomas WEST, William First, I have no idea about Joseph, But the skinny on the others is that they are related. Either cousins or brothers, but they all came from Baltimore County MD via the western PA area. The older ones, Thomas, William and Nathaniel all served in the Rev. War. Nathaniel and William bought land in 1791 from a Mr. South. In 1793, Nathaniel sold his part and soon was in Knox County, IN. William went to Barren County, KY and got lost. I am not sure what happened to Thomas. Jonathan and Richard seemed to have stayed in the Madison County, KY area for a much longer time. I am from Nathaniel. 3. While going through some of my CD files, I found the following genealogy from "Kentucky Genealogies, #1, Genealogies of Kentucky Families Vol. II, The Ancestry of Edward West of Lexington Kentucky, 1757-1827,"by Mabel Van Dyke Baer. Please note that this is not my ancestor, nor am I researching any of them and don't know anything else about them other than what follows, but I am posting these excerpts for anyone else who may be interested. (Remarks in parentheses are mine.DW) -------------------------------------------- Important as was Edward WEST, silversmith and steamboat inventor, of Lexington, Kentucky, it has been printed inaccurately in several important publications that he was the son of the Reverend Dr. William WEST of Baltimore, Maryland. To clear the way for a solid foundation in fact there follows a transcript of the family Bible of Rev. Dr. William WEST, rector of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Baltimore, MD from 1779-1791. The Bible was owned by Miss Jean RUMSEY, copied by Miss Vitoria GITTINGS and deposited in the library of the Maryland Historical Society, Baltimore, MD in October 1931, by Dr. J. Hall PLEASANTS. Additional material which evidently was added to the original record is shown in parentheses. Family Bible of the Rev. Would it work if the URL is all connected in one line? Otherwise, I'm at a loss. I've cut and pasted it again from the site: http://home.nycap.rr.com/siebold/ George On May 6, 2006, at 5:00 PM, WEST-D-request@rootsweb.com wrote: > > ______________________________ > > > From: PalTia@aol.com > Date: May 6, 2006 4:34:34 PM CDT > To: WEST-L@rootsweb.com > Subject: Re: [WEST-L] Five West Genealogies > > I keep getting an error when I try to go here.
