    2. Jim Dysle
    3. I'm still wondering if your James West (born ca 1808 NC) may have been a brother of my Jesse West who was born 1798 in VA. Jesse West brought his family to Lafayette's neighboring county (Saline MO) in 1839. James West is a recurring name throughout Jesse's descendant generations. 3. I just subscribed yesterday and was a little surprised to see so many messages come through. Looks like there are quite a few Wests out there. Do any of you happen to have a record of some Wests living in IRELAND for the time period between about 1800 and 1850? Seems like I'm up against a brick wall trying to find the township in Ireland where my grandfather WILLIAM HARVEY WESTand his sister ELIZABETH WEST were born in about 1846-1849. Their parents were named BENJAMIN WEST (born somewhere in England) and REBECA HARVEY (born somewhere in Ireland) According to census records, William (and sister) came to US in about 1849 when very small. Can find no record in this country of his parents. Have looked in passenger records, but find nothing. William shows up in Guthrie Oklahoma about 40 years later. Thanks for listening and hope to hear from someone. Joanne jcoryell@prodigy.net

    2. Dear Freda, According to Joseph E. Steadman's book The Ancestry of the Fox Family of Richland and Lexington Counties, South Carolina, which I am using as my source, your information is completely accurate. I think the confusion has come in because HENRY FOX II married two times: 1) To MARY KENDRICK, circa 1697 2) To MARY CLAIBORNE, circa 1705, after the death of the ist wife. What sources of information do you have for this Fox family lineage?? Kaye

    2. Dear Eileen, Many thanks for your reply suggesting The West Family Register to me. I am not familiar with it. I appreciate your offer to type up the lineages for me, but it sounds as if there is not much on the HENRY FOX-ANNE WEST line which is the subject of my inquiry. According to the information I have, HENRY FOX and ANNE WEST were the parents of FOUR children---HENRY FOX II, JOHN FOX, THOMAS FOX, and ANNE FOX. Does The West Family Register deal only with American descendants of the DE LA WARRS, or does it also deal with the ancestry of the DE LA WARRS? I would be quite interested in seeing what it shows on their ancestry. Again, many thanks for your reply. Kaye

    1. [WEST-L] Fox Family Descendants of JOHN WEST
    2. I am researching the South Carolina descendants of HENRY FOX I, BURGESS of King William, Virginia, who married ANNE WEST prior to 1700. Anne was the daughter of COLONEL JOHN WEST and UNITY CROSHAW, and the granddaughter of JOHN WEST, GOVERNOR OF VIRGINIA, 1635-1637. Governor John West was the son of SIR THOMAS WEST, 2ND LORD DELAWARE. Joseph E. Steadman's book, Ancestry of the Fox Family of Richland and Lexington Counties, South Carolina traces the line of descent from HENRY FOX I and ANNE WEST as follows: HENRY FOX II m. MARY KENDRICK, HENRY FOX III m. MARY GOODWYN and moved to South Carolina in the 1730's, JOHN FOX of Abbeville District, SC m. MARY unknown and died in the Revolution in 1781. I am seeking confirmation of the above line of descent from ANNE WEST and her husband HENRY FOX I. Steadman's book appears to be very well researched and documented, but I just like to double check. Many thanks, Kaye

Then again, you might not want to look at it because it may depress you if you are like me and are pretty sure you have VA ancestors who never moved a foot, but lived in five different counties between 1770 and 1800.
