    3. Hello Carol, I have found Wests and Davis' a plenty in my research into Attala County Mississippi. I have seen them in the census for 1850 and up, also many Davis' in the History of Attala County Book. Hope this helps. In fact there are so many Davis' I wished many times I had a link to this family. 3. Hi Carol, You can find alot of info about William Nelson West's descendants at Patsy West's home page: http://home.stlnet.com/~pawest/home.html. There is a 'Kissin' Cousin' page with email addresses for several members of this line, including Karen West Scott. I don't think Karen is currently subscribed to this list server. The site also has a page that gives a brief description of the soon-to-be-released book. Our West's spent several decades in Mississippi (mid 1820's - 1860) mostly around Wayne and Newton counties. They also spent some time in Caldwell Parish, LA. Many migrated farther west into Texas and Oklahoma. I'm not related to the Davis line referenced in the book so I can't help you there. Hope you find a connection. We'd like to add you to the family. Kerry L. 2. DO ANY OF YOU KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THIS? Today's mail brought a flyer for a book by Karen West Scott entitled: GENEALOGY AND FAMILY HISTORY OF THE WILLIAM NELSON WEST (1775-1846) FAMILY The description says: ". . . research includes Virginia, South Carolina, Mississippi, Louisiana, Arkansas, Texas and Oklahoma, following the migration of William Nelson and Alsey Rogers West and their descendants." Do any of you have connections to this family? If so, I would like to know where in South Carolina the West and Davis branches are located and when? I would also like to know where and when the West and Davis branches were in Mississippi. Karen, If you are on the list, I would very much appreciate more information. The book looks good, but I need more information to know if I might have connections to this group of Wests. Carol West

    3. Hello! According to some documents I have found, my ggrandfather Samuel LANE, born 1846, was sent to live with his uncle, Peter Jonathan WEST several times between 1860 & 1866. Peter WEST was a farmer in Monmouth Co. NJ, in the Keyport or Middletownpoint area. This is all the info I have on him at this time. Is anyone doing research on this WEST family that could help me out? Thanks.....Laurie Byrd navy81@flash.net

    3. If you try and locate the CPT Samuel West, sorry, you won't find the name in any book. I am not old enough to have been in the civil war! To the best of my knowledge, I have never been mentioned in any book, either. I am in today's Army (is it still the Union Army?). My great grandfather, W.L. West was, however. Thanks for the reply, CPT Samuel West

He was in the 8th Army, 7th Cavalry Regiment, Company G as the Commander. If Herman is yours I can zerox pages from book for you. He was a Major at the time he gave the account to the author.
