    1. [WEST-L] West Family Genealogy
    2. Dale West
    3. I have recently been working on a Web Page to present West Family genealogical information that I know about my own family tree. I am primarily researching the West Family trying to find my roots but I have included everyone along my search. I have reached the end of my findings with my third great grandfather, Eber West. I am hopeful that this page will help other West Family researchers as well as help me reach further into my roots. The page is far from complete but it has a good start. I am working on transcribing the life story of Georgia Ann (WEST) Osborn as told by her daughters Eunice and Roxie. This is real interesting reading even if it not your line of Wests'. If you visit please e-mail me with any suggestions or information you might have on this West Family line. Dale West Boston, MA http://www.geocities.com/~gtkiwanis/dwest/homepage.html

    3. Fay -- One other bit of info. for you: According to the 1880 census which lists Callaway and Sarah Brown, Sarah (West) Brown's father (who we have concluded is George WEST of Bedford Co.) was born in MARYLAND. The census records seem to be pretty complete and accurate. Does this fit with what you know about George WEST? Thanks again, Tracy J. Brown > ---------- > From: Fay E. 3. Dear Fran; If at all possible, and when you find the spare time, would you please check for the WEST surname in Sussex Co, DE and Worcester Co, MD. The family was in those two counties from the mid 1600s to late 1700s. If this is not consistant with what you are offering, please disregard. Incidentally, are the newsletters available in archives on the Web? 3. Hello all WEST researchers! The newsletter is no longer available. I wrote it from 1991 through 1996 and into 1997. For my own records I saved published copies of most of the newsletters except maybe the early ones. Since my subscriber base was national I have WEST queries and information from forty six of our states. It was to the saved copies of the newsletter I referred when I told Dale I would check on something for him. For any registered subscriber to Myra's WEST-L, I will happily check into any inquiry using the old copies of WWWQ, but please be aware they are old/out of date. While the data don't change the addresses of correspondents do. Hopefully, this rather long note will clear up impressions I did not intend to create. 3. I am looking for any information anyone might have on my great-great grandfather, Ronel Douglas West, Sr. He was born in Georgia on July 16, 1860 and died in Bertram, Texas on May 23, 1943. He married Mollie Lucas and they had two children, James Eber West and Mable West. James Eber and Mable are believed to have also died in Bertram, Texas. Ronel Douglas West, Sr.'s second marraige was to Louise E. Knight and they had four children, Golda Katherine West, R.D. West Jr., Rubie L. West and John Robert West. 3. I don't know if this was the list of epidemics referred to on Dec. 8. This list I received from a cousin in another family line. Perhaps it will be of help. Joan Sept-Oct, 1997, Newsletter - Genealogical Society of Santa Cruz County "Source: Ancestors West, SSBCGS, Vol.. 20, No 1, Fail 199&' In case you ever wondered why a large number of your ancestors disappeared during a certain period in history, this might help. Epidemics have always had a great influence on people - and thus influencing, as well. the genealogists trying to trace them. Many cases of people disappearing from records can be trace to dying during an epidemic or moving away from the affected area. 3. I wonder if our families might connect? I have a Thomas Allen West md. to a Margaret "Peggy" Hogan in 1824 in Christian Co., KY. My Thomas Allen West was b. 1 Feb 1804 Chatham Co., NC (son of Charles H. West and Aquilla Buckner). They went to Denton Co., TX prior to 1856 where Peggy died in Aug. of that year in Denton Co. Thomas died there on 16 Sep 1875. Thomas A. West had 10 siblings as best as we can determine. I suspect your Benjamine and brother, Thomas W/N. may all be cousins. Charles H. West was a son of Thomas West, Jr. of Chatham and Orange Co., NC who died in Christian Co., KY (1735-1821). John G. 3. That's a tough one. I know my Wests are Scotch-Irish because my grandmother told me so, and my mother's cousins say their mothers (my grandmother's sisters) told them the same thing (I haven't tracked back to the original immigrant yet). When I found some distant connections, they all claimed to be Scotch-Irish as well. I don't know how you'd find that out if you didn't have an oral history to start with. I can tell you most Scotch-Irish were Protestant, and most of them came to North America in the mid-1700s. I have a little more about the Scotch-Irish on one of my web pages: http://www.theshop.net/missbev/family/Scotch-Irish.html and I have what I know of my West family ancestry on this page: http://www.theshop.net/missbev/family/Wests2.html Good luck.
