Does anyone have any Wests in England or Ireland for the time period between about 1780 to 1845? My great-grandfather, Benjamin West was born somewhere in England around 1820. Married Rebeca Harvey and had two children, William and Elizabeth, born in Ireland in 1847and 1849. They didn't come to America until 1849, but am unable to find where they landed or their whereabouts for the next 40 years, when William and Elizabeth show up in Guthrie, Oklahoma in 1890. > roll call. Just names, dates and locations. I think I'm searching for the 'needle in the haystack' - Nathaniel West who served in the War of 1812. He appears to be the grandfather of my Great-great-grandmother Sarah Hubbell Smith according to a short paragraph in The History of Macomb County, MIchigan. Given that tidbit of information, I would imagine that I'm searching for a Nathaniel West, probably from the northern states (Sarah was born in Bristol, Ontario Co., NY - 4 Sep 1834), with a daughter who married into a Hubbell family. I've been unable to find any information on Sarah's parents that might give me a clue to Nathaniel's identity. When she appears at age 15 in the 1850 census of Bristol, Sarah is living in the household of Gilbert & Mary Francis. (a Malissa Herendeen, age 11, lived there too).
