I have a copy of the Eastern Cherokee application by John Henry West b.07/31/1866 who lived in the town of Vian in the Indian Territory and would love to pass it on to a direct descendent. He md Ophelia ? who was 7 yrs younger according to the application. Sibs were Ellis C., Richard F., Laura B., Llewellyn, Frank, Mary, and Nancy West. I ordered this from DC thinking he may have been my John West, but unfortunately he was not. You may claim it by naming his parents. In the event that more than one descendent claims it I will take the first one and hopefully that individual will copy it and send a copy to the others. We can correspond directly by e-mail and I will then mail this to you. Linda West Hutchison
My apologies to other list members. I accidentally erased a post tonight that mentioned William West from Louisa Co., VA. I meant to save it. I had no luck trying to find it in the archives. Would some kind soul please e-mail that post to me again. I would really appreciate it. Thanks! Kathryn

Wish to exchange information with anyone researching the family of Samuel West, b. 2 Feb 1732, s/o Francis WEST of Hopkinton and Westerly, Rhode Island. Samuel m. Annie COON, b. 10 Apr 1736; d/o John COON and Patience RANDALL. Samuel and Annie's children were: Samuel, Anna, Amie, Simon, Sarah, Mary, Seabury, Solomon, Stephen, and Betsey. Believe members of this family resided in Grafton, Rensselaer Co, New York and later Farifield, Herkimer Co, New York. They were possibly of the Seventh Day Baptist religion. Thanks so much! Donna Burkert
I have the Bible Record of Methodist Minister William West b. 1798 and wife Mathilday, b. 18__. They lived most of their lives in Corinth, Miss. 12 children were born between 1829 and 1850. Their names are: Lavinia Jane, Winney, Emily W., Wiley, Dempsey C., David Crockett, Darcus Caroline, William Green, Benjamin Madison, Laver An, Thomas Jefferson, Elizabeth Amando. The spelling of the names is the way they are spelled in the Bible Record. The Bible was published in 1829 by the American Bible Society in New York. One interesting feature is that their child named David Crockett West was born on March 25, 1836. Davy Crockett of Tenn was killed defending the Alamo on March 6, 1836. The news apparently had traveled to Miss and the defenders of the Alamo were already heroes. Marti San Antonio

Hi, Can anyone please help me with this line? I'm searching for Wilson WEST who was born approx. 1828 somewhere in NC. He is in Overton Co. TN in the 1850 census with his wife, Nancy Jane JACKSON. I think they stayed close by the Jackson family and moved through Benton Co. AR in the late 1850s to Grayson County, Texas. It gets a little confusing for records searches because they lived right on the border of Grayson and Cooke Counties in Texas. I did find the grave of one daughter, Mary West b. Nov 23, 1857 died August 26, 1866 in Allison Cemetery in Grayson County TX. In the 1870 Census for Grayson County the family is listed as this: Wilson West 46y, born NC Nancy J. 40yr, born TN A.M. 20 y. (Female) b. TN (she's not in the 1860 census) Andrew D. 18y b. TN Julia A. 17 y., b TN Charity M. 16y. b. TN William S. 14 y. b KY Sarah J. 11y. b ARK James J. 7y, b. TX Morgan 4 y., b. TX Martha 3y b. TX Infant 2/12 (female) b. TX This is from the 1880 census: Wilson West 56 Nancy 50 Andrew 27 Sarah J. 20 James T. 18 John 15 Mathie C. 13 Laura 10 Cordelia S. 8 My husband's line comes from Sarah J. who married Joseph B. Deen in 1880. They moved to Oklahoma. If anyone sees a possible connection to this line, please let me know. I'm especially interested in finding out where Wilson West came from originally in NC and who his parents may be. Shelly Henley Kelly Galveston TX
Hi, I was wondering if anyone shares my West line. It starts with Elizabteh West B. 1841 and D. 1906 and is buried in Caney Valley, TN. She married David Howerton on 11/21/1866. Elizabeth was the daughter of Issac West Jr and Artumissa. Isaac was born about 1817 in TN and died about 1870. Issac's father was Issac West Sr. Issac West Sr was born between 1780-1790. Anybody have any information on this family? Thanks Stephen Howerton

I have just posted several new WEST family wills on the web site for anyone who is interested in looking at them. If you have any WEST family wills, please consider submitting them for posting on the site. I have over 70 wills of early settlers of Essex County, Massachusetts on a GenWeb site and they have provided a lot of answers to people looking for their roots. -- Dale West e-mail: dwest@banet.net Visit the WestFamily Genealogy web site - http://westfamily.genealogy.org
Higginson may have bought the copyright and then renewed it. Don't assume the copyright has expired simply because of the copyright age. Walt Disney Co, just renewed the copyright on Mickey Mouse because they didn't want the likeness to fall into the public domain where idiots {my opinion} could use the likeness in very inappropriate ways. BTW, I have a Higginson copy of Brock's book. Sometimes it is offered on sale in Everton's. I got the hardback version for about $40 last year. Suggest looking in Everton's before you place an order.
