    3. Leave it the way it is. I would rather contact individuals directly. When I have information that should be shared by the list, I will post it there. Joan

    3. Hi, I like the idea because this is the hardest name that I have to trace for my husbands family. There are so many WEST families but we can not find ours. It may be that by reading the others that are talking we might see a link. Please do so! Amy West

    3. Wonderful idea. I miss out on a lot of info sent directly to individuals that may be useful to my research. 2. It's o.k. with me, if I don't need or want it, I can delete it. I just suggest it always be concerning genealogy. Not personal stuff. Spirit

    3. I feel that the information sent to the list should be only genealogical in nature. Other wise it should be sent only to the individual who sent it. This very email is being stored on disk for future reference. It has no genealogical value and probably should have been sent only to the list owner. Guy

    3. Hello. My first time to send a message, so someone respond just to let me know I did it correctly. I need to know the direction to head re. the brothers of my great, great, great grandmother's brothers. Their parents were William West (Sept. 1811) and Oney Welbeloved Taft (Dec. 1812 or 13), of NC and SC. My great grandmother (I was blessed to have her in my life until I was nearly 30) wrote this is her "ledger." "GrandMother West's brothers that were killed in the Civil War bueried(sp) in Roebuck. WilliamThomas West Willis Perry West James Mikeil West Andy Gabrial West William Jr. West" I know that Roebuck is in Spartanburg County South Carolina. I've written to the SC Gen.Soc., but so far, no response. I want to know about these men. Did they have families? Exactly where are they buried? How and where did they die. If I have complete information, there were no other males for William and Oney, so, by name, this line stopped here. Can anyone give me help or direction? Thank you. Flossy Melton

So far the vote is 14 to one to keep the list in the Reply to List mode. We will see how it works out, and I will try to learn to type better in the meantime. (g) Myra

    2. Hi Flossy Your message came through just fine on the West list. Do you have West in your line too?. I do too, plus my Rackley's and Tinsley's. We are going to end up related if we keep finding families with the same name. Leona

    1. [WEST-L] Thomas West m Malinda Murff
    2. James Pittman
    3. I am seeking information on Thomas West, born 13 Nov 1813 in Laurens County, SC, married 8 Oct 1835 to Malinda Murff in Laurens County, and died 15 July 1896 in Calhoun County, Mississippi. I have information about this couple from the Murff genealogy, but I have no information about Thomas' parents, siblings, etc. Any leads about his ancestry would be most appreciated. One of his sons, William Randolph West, MD, married Mellinium Creekmore, and they are the parents of my paternal grandmother, Mabra Ethel West. Thanks in advance. Jim Pittman -- James A.
