I messed up the address for my own web page! The correct one is below: >James, your Thomas and my great-great-grandfather Zachariah Simpson "Simp" West were brothers. You'll find your ancestor about half-way down my web page:> http://www.theshop.net/missbev/family/Wests2.html Beverly missbev@theshop.net

Edith--I think my James is too old to be your grammas Dad. The earliest West ancestor that I can trace for sure is James West b 1808 NC, m Elizabeth __ NC. Don't know where in NC they came from but they came to Missouri about the same time as a large family of HOUX and POOLS, who came from Grayson Co. Va in the Elk Creek area which is on the NC-Va line. James son, Henry Clay b 1842 in Lafayette Co. Mo. married Julia A Pool, and the Pools and Wests lived as neighbors for many years, so I feel they probably knew each other before. Henry Clay and Julia had a son James Ephraim b 1870 who is my grandfather. He was born and died in Lafayette Co. Mo. I have quite a bit of info about the Pool family, but the Wests have me baffled. Thanks for your input--never know when the link will come! Rosie, I am on AOL and am not familiar with icons being sent by e-mail. Do you mean a hyper-link? A hyper is a blue portion of a mail that links directly to a site. Like this one: <A HREF="http://moa.umdl.umich.edu/moa/index.html">Making of America</A> Let me know if that one worked. Rick Monroe Long Beach,CA

Does anyone have a West that originated in Germany? I have a George West b. around 1750s. Lot of German names for spouses and children. This line I can trace to Albemarle, VA to Pickaway, OH to Decatur, Iowa. Barry West

Help! I am having a real hard time finding out anything further on this part of my husband's family. His father died when he was two so he never knew him and everyone lost touch with the rest of that part of the family. We only know that his grandfather was named NOWIE(or NOAH) WEST. He married a BETTY HANLEY (or HADLEY) and they had at least four children named WILLIAM (called BILL), HENRY NOAH (called PETE), THURMAN HARRISON (called Faye), and their sister BIRDIE (m. WILLIAM HOLLAND). We know that Nowie worked as a farmer and work in England, AR at a sawmill for a long time. He died at 4-Mile Corner, near Des Arc, AR. I know it's not much but this is all we have. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Amy West

I agree! I have no difficulty deciding on--or executing a message to either the group or any individual as it is. If you change it, I'll have to learn a new trick--and I don't really want to. Dear Fellow List Members, Perhaps you may be able to help me. My husband's grandmother went by the name of Mary Clare Stanley b. about 1893 in Concordia Parish, LA. I have found her parents listed at different times as (1) W.A. Stanley and Annie Laura West; (2) Newt Stanley and Annie Laura West; (3) Newt Gallop and Annie Laura West; (4) Newt Gallop West and Annie Laura ?. Mary Clare Stanley? West? Gallop? and her sister Corrine were placed in St. Mary's orphanage in Adams Co., MS at a young age (I have sent off for a search of their records and am patiently waiting for their reply <grin>). There was also likely a third sister who died while in residence at St. Mary's from drowning. Mary Clare Stanley? West? Gallop? married (1) ? Bostic, (2) Frank Petta and (3) possibly another man by the name of Girlinghouse. She died in Dallas Co., TX in the 1970s. Her father, whichever one he may have been, supposedly killed a man and was on the run from the law. Her mother was supposed to have died shortly after the birth of the last daughter. Can anyone out there possibly help me out with this tangled web? Candy

I am looking for descendants from this brother and sister: George West, b. December 26, 1894 & Lisabelle West b. January 24, 1896 Apparently they are children of Albert West, b. about 1874 in Pike County, KY, d. 1903 married to Mary "Polly" Canady b. 1894, d. 1904. Other children were: Naomi (Oma) West b. 1894 m. Cleve Toler Alfie West, b. 1902 married Fred Wilson Clema West ?? Bernette Harvey - either half brother or step brother Dosh Canady -either half brother or step brother HERE'S THE FULL SCOOP: This Albert (aka Aulbert) West had purchased a bunch of acreage in WV with the intentions of running a full logging operation. In 1903, he was killed either by a a stacked log rolling over him, or a tree he was cutting falling on him. His wife died in 1904 of 'consumption' - tuberculosis. After both of their deaths, the bank was ready to foreclose on the loan Albert had for the land, so his brothers got together and paid off the bank and they got clear title to the land, which was then passed down to their own children and not to Albert & Mary's children (but that's a whole different story) Anyway, when they both died the children were split up among the family, including my grandfather Floyd West who was raised by Green West, over the years Floyd West only mentioned & apparently knew Oma, Alfie, Clema, as well as this Bernette Harvey and Dosh Canady which always referred to as brothers, but I don't know if these were children that belonged to Mary before marrying Albert or what the relationship was. Floyd West never, never mentioned George & Lisabelle. Is it possible they were a brother and sister my grandpa never knew because of the circumstances that separated the children. I'd really like to get info on these two and possibly talked with their descendants to what the info is on that side.
