If at first you dont suceed... Here is yet another attempt to locate the parents of my GGG Grandfather, John William West. The following is all the information i have on him. If anyone is decended from him or knows who his parents might be or have any idea how i may figure it out, please contact me. John William West was born in Gouldsboro, Maine in 1828. I have written to the Gouldsboro, Maine town hall or whatever you call it, (in an attempt to locate a birth certificate for him - i got no response). According to the 1860 census, John was listed as a Seaman, and living in Columbia, Washington County, Maine, with his wife, Prudence "Dency" (Tenney) West. and thier child Uriah E. West. (my GG Grandfather). According to the 1870 census, John was listed as a Laborer, and living in Columbia Falls, Maine, with his wife Dency, sons Uriah and Daniel, and Daughters Mary and Unice. John William West also appears in the book "Early Pleasant River Families - Washington County" on page 559 as the husband of Dencie Tenney, as a laborer at Columbia Falls, and Milbridge, Maine. It also makes the note of [COL 1860, CFS 1870] i dont have the book, just photocopies, so i dont know exactly what that may mean. He died on Feb. 14 1905, in Milbridge, Maine. I have a copy of his death certificate, and the "parents" section is left off as "not given". (Just a note, if any of you ever find yourself in the position of filling out a death certificate - LIST THE PARENTS! AAArrrrgghhh!) I also have the death certificate of Mrs. John W. West (Dencie) and that isnt any help either. John W. and Dencie West were married on Nov. 28, 1857. again, i am searching for his parents, so if there is anyone out there who can help me, please let me know. thanks, Christopher West Kitsuno@aol.com

Hello Fellow WEST cuzzins', Well, gang, pass me the big bottle of Excedrin. For many moons I have had a bee buzzin' around in the back of my head, just irritating the fool out of me sometimes, concerning a possible early connection between my mother's family and my father's family. Some of their respective family lines were in Ms. at about the same time, however, on different sides of Ms.,mother's being the BROOMEs and THORNTONs in Utica, Hinds Co.(my mother's maternal line); and dad's WESTs and relatives in the Jasper, Clarke and Wayne Co. areas of Ms. After a genealogy meeting this morning, I headed to Clayton in Houston. There in a large format book "The First Hundred Years of Trinity Co." - (Texas) the bee did buzz. One of the Family History write-ups highlighted a well-known family 'MILLIKEN' with some biographical information. George MILLIKEN (son of Charles, from Va. > NC), married an Agnes WEST, Guilford Court, Guilford NC. Children were born and then this family removed to the Logan, Ky. area. One of their sons - Hugh Milliken m. Mary (Polly) Copeland, in Ky. Then this family removed to East Texas. The sixth child of Hugh and Mary, Agnes MILLIKEN m. John J.
