Greetings List, Yet another new individual has surfaced through third hand, word of mouth, family information.... Aaron Lafayette West (1825-1898) born in Union County,SC and died in Pontotoc County, MS. His wife was Lavina Jane Lee (1827-1868) born in Union County, SC and died in Pontotoc County, MS. They migrated to Pontotoc County in March 1856 from Union County, SC along with "others of the family." Does anyone have any information on this couple or knowledge of other West's that may have been part of this migration? Thanks, - Pete
Well my family started in Greene Co. PA with William West and Elizabeth Buchanan West. My GGGG Grandfather Thomas West was born there in 1818 and I know he married in Belmont Co. and later moved to Monroe Co., Ohio. William also came to Monroe County eventually too. I wonder if Thomas West might be a brother or maybe a cousin to your John Otho West. I wish I had more information, but I am afraid I don't. Here is my web page if you want to see what I have: http://www.angelfire.com/in/wjacademy/westfamily.html Debra West Jones Sam West wrote: > > Do you have any information on the John Otho West family in York Twp, > Belmont Co.? I am researching my g-grandmother's WEST line. She was Nancy Samantha Ann WEST born: 1849 in Greene Co., MS. buried in Pine Grove Cemetary in Wayne Co., MS married: Calvin "Alfred" Elmo Nathaniel Smith Nancy Samantha WEST's father was Vincent WEST. Vincent's father was John WEST. Nancy Samantha WEST's mother was Elizabeth Kittrell. Nancy's siblings were: John, David, Margaret, Absalom, Charles (Charley), Elizabeth, Valonia, Vincent Jr., and Truman. Would love to exchange information with others related to this WEST line. Carol S. * * * Also researching: Commander, Cothanneau, Cuttino, Cox, Dunham, Dunnam, James, Jones, Kittrell, McCants, McInnis, McLain, Mercer, Norris, Smith, Snead, Sowell, Strickland, Wade, Watkins, Weeks, West, and others.
I have received several replies to my message concerning my ancestors in Illinois. One of then suggested more info. Here is more data. Still hoping to find researchers interested in my West family. Would like to correspond with West descs from Perry County (Pinckneyville and DuQuoin), Jackson County (Murphysboro, Carbondale, Herrin), and Williamson County ( Marion). My G(2) grandparents were Nicodemus West and Martha Malinda Mulkey. My G(1) grandparents were William Howard West and Elizabeth Hope Corley. My grandparents were Kenneth West and Alice Patrick. Nicodemus was born in TN May 18, 1854. Died in Marion IL Aug 10 1874 and is buried in the Old Marion Cem. Spent most of his life in Marion. I have two references to birth place, but no proof. One reference is Clinton, Anderson, TN. Another is Clinton County TN which doesn't and never did exist. Court House in Marion burnt in 1875 so his will or probate thereof and his death certificate were destroyed. I also have some data that says his father was Obediah, but no proof of that. He married Martha Feb 3, 1850. William was born on Mar 18, 1859 in Marion and spent most of his adult life in Murphysboro and Carbondale. He died Dec 27,1926 and is buried in Carbondale. Kenneth was born Jan 23, 1884 in Murphysboro. Died Jun 27 1908. I have been trying, with no succcess, to find Nicodemus' parents. Among Nicodemus and Martha's children was Rachael Ella West. Don't know who she married. Another was Mary Lucinda Elizabeth West who married Eli Drennon Roach. Mary was born May 1863, married Eli Nov 2, 1884. Can anyone help with with Nicodemus' father, info about Rachael, and info about the offspring of Mary and Eli? Billy Carr -

I am searching for any information on the ancestors of Louisa(Louezar) West who was born in North Carolina about 1842. She married Nathan Williams, son of Moses and Nancy (Wilder) Williams, in 1857, Owsley Co.(?), KY and died in the 1920s, Custer Co., OK. Any information would be appreciated.
Greetings List, I am posting new information again. Recent information has suggested a link of our Richard West, b. 1817 in Union County, SC, with Solomon West (m. Eleanor) and Benjamin West (m. Eugenia Trail). Solomon West is one of five children to Benjamin West (b. 1700 England, d. 1780 Glen Springs, SC) & Eugenia Trail (possibly b. in Scotland, d. SC). Richard West is the only known child (?) of Solomon West (b. 1725?) & Eleanor unknown. Can any one add any information to this sketchy outline? Thanks. - Pete

Samuel WEST was born ca 1773 in VA, marr 1796 in Clark Co. KY Lydia WHITE, dau of John White, Sr. In various lineage charts it is shown that Samuel's father was Willis West, but no-one can give a source. Have any of you seen a Willis West anywhere in VA about 1770? Leitha Trefren ltrefren@webtv.net
Hello fellow researchers of the WEST surname, I have my copy of the brand new Jasper County Ms. Cemetery Book, published by the Jones County Genealogical and Historical Organization. I will do look ups for those who believe they may have a WEST ancestor or others buried in Jasper County Ms. The book is for Jasper County alone. There may be objection to posting to the mailing list; so e-mail me directly and I will look up your ancestor. Sheria20@aol.com I will check for mail at least once a day; more if I can.
