I am going to try this again. I am trying to find info on my great grandfather John Wesley West. He married Louisa Allen Parrish Brock who had 3 children, Sam Mollie, & Lillie. They took the name of West and then John and Louisa had 3 sons, John M, James Harrelson, and William Franklin. I know Louisa is in the 1880 Cherokee NC census. I wonder if that is where they married. I have no other dates. I know James Harrelson was born 1888 in Piedmont, Etowah Cty, Al. I have been told they then moved to Mississippi around the Lux, Petal area. I received this letter in 1982: Dear Mr. West: My husband, John Arthur West, died 12 years ago. He had two brothers and four sisters, namely: William, deceased Orville Clara, deceased Minnie, deceased Myrtle Roberta Their father's name was Wlaker West and mother's, Fanny Lockhart. They lived in Elizabeth, Wirt County, West Virginia. I am sure they were no relation to your family. I have lived in Parkersburg 93 years, and have never heard of any of your family members you mentioned. Sorry I have been unable to be of assistance in enabling you to trace your family tree. The LDS has a record on Passmore and John Otho West that references a Walker West as relative. I have not been able to find out what relationship Walker had to these names. Cemetery inscriptions from a cemetery near Yorkville Ohio. Yorkville is on state route 7 in Belmont CO. just below the Jefferson CO. line. I do not know the names of the streets, but go left at the entrance to Paridine Hills golf course. Cemetery was at the right hand end of the club house as you drive up to it. A lot of stones were missing and cemetery was in bad shape. These inscriptions were taken in 1982. Joseph S. son of J. M. and M. J. West Jun. ?, 1864 Joan, dau of J. G. and E. A. West Calvin West Feb 12, 1863 John M. West 1816-1887 Mary J. West 1819-1882 Simon B. son of J. M. and M. J. West ( no dates readable) Thomas West of the Ohio Bar born Jan 18, 1815 died Jun 30, 1850 Margaret West 1839-1875 Being very naive at the time, no other names were taken down except for the few West names listed. Leitha, As you know, I have also received information from other researchers on this line showing a Willis WEST as the father of Samuel WEST from VA born ca. 1773. I have also been unable to find a fellow researcher that has any source information for Willis. It is obvious that the information originated somewhere! Perhaps other researchers who also may have been given this information, will collaborate by checking with the researcher they originally obtained the information from (even if it is not a proven source) and we can all back-track to someone who may actually have proven information for Willis WEST.
