Looking for any info on Samuel Colfax West, born Apr. 1868 /DOD UNK. His father listed as born in Kentucky, his mother in Ohio. Census for Sam lists him born in Indiana. He married Manella Abby Hall in 1888. She is listed in one census as divorced, and in the next as widowed, although I find no death notice for Sam during that period in Indiana. SUPPORT ROOTSWEB NOW !!!!! (See end of email to find out how.) Did you know that Rootsweb is operated almost solely on USER DONATIONS? Did you know that Rootsweb is the ONLY major genealogy server that: Does NOT Charge monthly or yearly fees in order for you to use its services? Does NOT pay people to do the work necessary for databases to be put online? Depends on VOLUNTEERS to do the "grunt" work involved with transcribing historical documents, such as Census Records, Ships' Records, etc.? Did you know that Rootsweb: Is the MAJOR genealogy server on the Web/Internet? Handles more Mailing List email than any other genealogy server on the Internet? Has more daily "hits" than any other genealogy server on the Internet? Hosts more genealogy-related Web Sites than any other genealogy server on the Internet? IF YOU WERE UNAWARE OF THESE FACTS, PLEASE CHECK OUT ALL THE WONDERFUL SERVICES OFFERED BY ROOTSWEB !!!!! You get these services FREE OF CHARGE !!!!! Would you consider contributing a little of that money you have squirreled away for "hard times"????? You can be a Rootsweb Supporter for as little as $12.00 per year; yes, that's $1.00 per month !!!!! To find out how, go here: http://www.rootsweb.com/rootsweb/how-to-subscribe.html We must realise that nothing is really free!!!!! Someone, somewhere pays for it. If YOU use Rootsweb, for any reason, free of charge, SOMEONE is paying for it; whether it is us Listowners, the 5% of users who DO provide support, or Brian and Karen, who started ROOTS-L, years ago before there was a Web or a real Internet. Again, if you have benefited from Rootsweb services, give some thought to providing a little support. We need it!!!!! Go to: http://www.rootsweb.com/rootsweb/how-to-subscribe.html Thanks, Myra

Lord, no, I am not from PA. Born in New Orleans and consider anything north of Mississippi to be Yankee. Of course, I make exceptions for any potential relative living in a state that is, by tradition, considered to be southern. You made my day with the thought that I could be related to the Hatfields and the McCoys. I'd love to include that in my material. Back to PAY DIRT research: No, I haven't a clue as to where to go to find any of the info I need. That's why I've been so delighted to find you! Here is some of the stuff you asked for: CLEMENT LAWRENCE WEST b. 4/5/1832; in Phil, PA.;d. 1866 in Washington D.C. married 12/11/1860 in Christ Church, Baltimore, MD SARAH ADDISON b.unknown; d. unknown children MOLLIE A. WEST B. 9/11/1861; D. ? BENJAMIN PARKER WEST (Here is where I make the assumptions) b. Unknown; d.1925 in Bethlehem, PA married to: MARY PAULINE DOSTER b.1864; d. abt 1950 children GWENDOLYN WEST b.1899; d. 1917 HERBERT DOSTER WEST, SR. b.1892 in Phil., PA.; d. 1931 in Bethlehem, PA married 11/19/1914 TO: CARRIE MAE WALTON b. 5/11/1891 in Monroe Co., MS; d. 3/18/1970 in Aberdeen, MS children HERBERT DOSTER WEST, JR. b. 8/8/1925 in Washington D.C.(for 3 weeks-then MS.); d.2/25/1988 married 12/23/1948 in Cushing, OK to: MARGARET HUMPHREYS b. 4/18/1926 This is about it for my info concerning this problem. You can see where I am deriving my assumption: since it is known that the West family was from PA and that Herbert D. West, Jr. was born in Wash D.C. where Clement died, and that Clement's brother, Preston, was also in Wash D.C., I'm going the PA/DC tie-bind. To make a long story short, you can see how desperately I need help. So, HELP! Really, anything you have would be great. Many thanks again. SWJ
