Well - I am quite unhappy. This is how it was presented on e-bay...what I got was a page taken from a book with the little picture inside. so much for this being an "original engraving; this is not a reproduction" Okay Wests out there, what would you have thought was being sold? 1861 Engraving PA Benjamin West Birth Place Guaranteed original engraving; this is not a reproduction. This print was removed from the 1861 edition of John W. Barber and Henry Howe's book "Our Whole Country: Or The Past and Present of the United States, Historical and Descriptive. Illustrated by 600 engravings." The approximate dimensions of the print including captions is 1.75" x 1.25". It has some foxing spots yet is attractive and would be nice framed. Shipping and handling 2.50. International s&h higher. Insurance optional. p558 We accept cash, check, money orders, paypal. Thanks! GENEALOGY.COM DOES NOT STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT! I recently bought a copy of FTM V11 from SAMs. I loaded it on my computer and it transferred my old V8 data without a hitch. Included in the package were 4 FamilyFinder Index Cds. One of these Cds would not load on my computer. I called Broderbund, they referred me to Genealogy.com who referred me to ---. Bottom line, after much haranguing, they said they would send me a replacement disk BUT I had to pay the postage. I objected, asked to talk to supervisors and was told they would contact me by email. Five days later - no such email. It's not a big item but why should I have to pay anything to replace a defective product? Frank
Not at all. I actually went to the site and bid after seeing it on this site. I too am from that line..one of Benjamin West's brothers - Fabel ----- Original Message ----- From: "Vickie Sorrell" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Friday, October 17, 2003 8:33 PM Subject: Re: [WEST-L] BENJAMIN WEST > Thanks, Let me know if you don't mind. > Vickie West Sorrell > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: Fabel Konicke > Sent: Thursday, October 16, 2003 10:22 PM > To: [email protected] > Subject: Re: [WEST-L] BENJAMIN WEST > > I actually purchased this item - so will let you know how it works out! > > > > Vickie Sorrell <[email protected]> wrote: > What is this, were do I find it? > Thanks, > Vickie West Sorrell > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: [email protected] > Sent: Thursday, October 16, 2003 11:34 AM > To: [email protected] > Subject: Re: [WEST-L] BENJAMIN WEST > > The engraving of Benjamin West's birthplace is item # 3631159095. Does anyone have ancesters from England who came to US during this time period (possibly via Ireland)?? My great-grandfather was born somewhere in England in about 1804, went to Ireland (possibly Dublin) at some point, married there and had several children before coming to US in about 1848, ending up in Chicago. His name was also Benjamin West---but not the famous one :-) Do not know the location where he was born, or who his parents were, or if he had any siblings. Thanks for this good list. Joanne

Thank any way. Amy Genealogy: Finding out that the nuts don't always fall from someone else's family tree.
I have checked all my West records and do not find a Noah. Sorry. In regard to Dr. Lendrum West of Brookeborough, County Fermanagh, Northern Ireland---I descend from the Reid family of Brookeborough. Margaret Reid married William Primrose and they are my great-great-grandparents. One of their sons, John Primrose, along with a cousin Joseph Primrose, mined gold in Australia. John Primrose returned to N. Ireland and then settled in Allegheny (now Pittsburgh), Pennsylvania with his brother David Primrose, and then they settled in Primrose, Boone County, Nebraksa. A West family from N. Ireland married into the family in Nebraska in late 1800s. Other relatives---Adams, Davis, and Reids from N. Ireland---also settled in Primrose, Nebraska. There might possibly be a connection. Dr. Richard D. Culbertson 6428 Arthur Drive Fort Worth, Texas 76134
okay, it is the first time I have seen the name Noah West in a long time. The West use the same names over and over like Robert, Charles, George, James, John and such but Noah is not as common. Amy Genealogy: Finding out that the nuts don't always fall from someone else's family tree.
I wish I could help you connect the dots. I can tell you that some McElroy's came to America with the Wests just before the Revolution. There was an Isaac West traveling with Henry and Jane and their two boys Henry and James. However in 1808 Henry and James were in Ohio. So I cannot connect any dots. Hello West List, Are there any West newsletters being published anymore? Does anyone remember a West Newsletter called GO WEST! with a drawing of a gold miner searching for gold in a stream. And maybe a mule in the background. Bradley

I have been eagerly reading each email regarding the WEST family and while many of the given names have been the same, there does not appear to be any connection to my Fermanagh, Ireland family. Many records in Ireland were destroyed in the Four Courts fire of 1922 making it very difficult to trace the family line as only fragments remain. I also note that the WEST families in America go back to the 1600's and possibly even further whereas so far, I have only been able to go back to the mid 1700's in Northern Ireland, starting with Dr John WEST, then his son Dr John WEST and another Dr John WEST all of whom I believe relate to my family. Then follows in the mid 1800's my Great Great Grandfather Dr Lendrum WEST who was a Physician/Surgeon in Brookeborough, Fermanagh, his wife's name was Mary Ann PARKER. I have found three of his daughters - Mary Ann b: 1847, Elizabeth b: 1853, Amelia b: 1864. Also in 1864 Mary Ann aged 18 sailed to Western Australia and in 1866 married Robert Scarff who came from Suffolk, England. They settled on an excellent farming property near Geraldton, Western Australia and raised 9 children. Robert and Mary Ann were my Great Grandparents. Now back to 1864 in Ireland, I cannot find any further trace of Lendrum, his wife or the other children.. Did he and family also emigrate, but where?? I recently went into the Ancestry.com web site and submitted Lendrum WESTs name and the following came up - "Newport Daily News (Newport, Rhode Island) - Lendrum West - 2 records found! To access these 2 records you must be a subscriber to the Historical Newspapers Collection - sign up now" Having already spent so much on research I am reluctant to spend more on what could be the two items I already have information on. Apologies for this rather long message and best wishes to all in your research. Neila Biddle Perth, Western Australia
