Thanks for the help Ellie, But I have a real problem with Nancy being Lavina's Mother. Nancy was born in 1819 and Lavina was born in 1817. Hard to have a child older than you are.
Ginny, I have Elizabeth listed with the surname Burtonshall. Larry

Kamra, Sorry to take so long in getting back to you. I kind of lost your message and it just resurfaced this evening. Elijah, son of Capt. Stephen West m. Esther Loomer. I have her birthplace as Bozrah, CT, but not Elijah. My information about Elijah is hearsay from a relative who has since past away. I have no direct knowledge yet. Got kicked off before I could reply but thought I would help. Lavina's parents were Jacob Myers and Nancy Myers. Lavina was born in Hawkins Co Tn. The Myers family genealogy can be found if you use google and search for Jacob Myers and Hawkins TN. The link is listed below. I wonder if your John Otho West was related to my Wests. My Wests came from PA in 1790's and settled in Jefferson county. But then some of my Wests moved to Belmont county. Population was not heavy at that time and multiple Wests might have been related. Ellie
Bob, I have John's children, Joseph and Elizabeth and their families. If it will help, I can share that. If you don't mind sharing, would love to have more. John is married to Elizabeth Burtonshall. He is my 5th great grandfather. Larry in Phenix City, Al
My post on John Otho WEST was my first to this list. Whatever it is you are looking up, don't worry about putting my John O. West on your to-do list. Unless...... Ellie - I don't know anything about his ancestors, but I know much of his family went to Marshall Co., W.VA. Hi Again, I entered the wrong date for Jonathan. He died between 1880 (listed in Jones Co Ia. Census) and 1885. No longer listed in Ia State census. His wife left Ia. during that time and came to live in Mo. with her daughter. Thanks , Mary
My GGrandfather was Jonathan S West.He was born in NC about 1802-3. His Father was Charles Edward West and his Mother was Roma Barrega. His Grandfather was John Charles West a Jewler from Liverpool Eng. John brought Charles to America and settled him presumably in NC as that is where Jonathan was born (their first son?). I have no record of Jonathan's first life except he was married and had a son Robert. Presumably his wife died and his second wife met him as he was traveling in Ohio. They were married there in Preble Co. On July 4th 1852.They then went to Ia and lived there until Jonathan died between 1800 and 1885. Matilda was married first to a Harris in In. They had 4 children. Jonathan and Matilda had 3 children. I would love to hear from anyone who can give any info about Jonathan's first marriage and children. Robert went to Ia. also.that's all the info I have Mary

John d. 1840 York Twp., Belmont Co., OH. He m. Sarah Lemley 14 May 1826, York Twp., Belmont Co., OH. I need information on his parents, and all of his children. I have four, Samuel, William, Otho & Mary. Joan in CA
I have a John J. West born Sept 30, 1861 and died Jan 27, 1934. He is buried in High Pine Baptist Church cemetery, Randolph County, AL. His tombstone has "We Shall Meet Again" on it. with dates of birth/death. This John J. West is the brother of Emma Lou West (my great grandmother). Emma Lou was born 1852 and died in 1937. She was married to Thomas Aaron Springfield Norris, son of Henry Norris and Nancy Springfield. Thomas A. S. Norris is my great grandfather. I do have some information on the ancestors of T.A.S. Norris, but NOTHING on the West side of the family. Additional West's that are buried in the High Pine Baptist Cemetery are: Ella Murphy West, Dec 6, 1872-Dec 5, 1954. She was wife of John J. West. Walter L. West, Aug 7, 1892-Sept 24, 1952. Son of John J. West. Sara Murphy, Mar 4, 1825-Mar 8, 1920. Mother of Ella Murphy West. Eaffrom West, Dec 16, 1896-Oct 18, 1918. Killed in World War I. Son of John J. West. The 1880 U.S. Census list Emma Lou West as "Emily" Norris, wife of Thom Norris. She is listed as white, age 24, born in Georgia and occupation was keeping house. Both her parents listed as being born in Georgia. I would appreciate contacts from anyone having information about these West family members. Will be glad to share any information that I have. Many thanks. Awb ============ Awbrey G. Norris, Winter Springs FL (407) 366-5306 E-mail: [email protected] Please visit: http://www.22ndinfantry.org/ http://www.vietnamtripledeuce.org/
My John West, born about 1806 to 1812 in Tennessee, married Lavina Myers. John and Lavina are in Hawkins County in 1850 and in Claiborne County in 1860. She is back in Hawkins County with some of the children but without John in 1870 so I'm wondering if he didn't die before then. In 1880 she shows up in Greene County. She was also called Vina. Any connections? I would love to know more about John and Lavina/Vina. Thanks. Phyllis
Well, the will of John West seems to make it clear that his wife pre-deceased him, and following the census, son James was born 1756-1760 and remained in Craven/Lenoir County, NC through the 1830 census, when he was in his 70's. Good luck in your search!
