    3. I guess I am confused because I am not sure whether you are searching for Mattie WEST or Mattie ROGERS? Could you please list birthdate, parents etc. just alone? I have found lots of Matties but need more clear family line, pleaae. I get confused with anecdotal genealogy, although I love the stories. 3. My grandmother, married a West, lived to be 101, but only died this past October.... My West family (as far as I've been able to track) came from Georgia in 1874, travelled by boat through Galveston (or so the family lore goes) and settled in the Dallas area. My g-grandfather, Aurelious Henry West and Rachel Elizabeth Felkner had most of their children in/around Dallas. The last son was born in Denton, Texas. AH and Rachel moved to Oklahoma in 1902/1904 and eventually lived/died in Norman, Oklahoma. His brother, James A. West moved with his family to Pottawatomie County a bit earlier and eventually settled/died in south Oklahoma, in Cotton County. I haven't been able to determine who all travelled to Texas, the father's name was Frederick West. Family lore is that the whole family travelled to Texas. This family had all boys, no girls. Frederick was born in 1826... I did find the census report in 1870 Plano, Collin County Texas that shows one son married and two of his brothers living with him.... John F. West 27 Ellen A. West 27 wife Annie West, 2 daughter Jennie West, 10 months, daughter James A. West, 24 brother Augustus West, 16 brother Richard Meadows, 24 cousin But, that's all I can find of my West family in Texas in 1870. Sure would like to be able to find out what happened to the brothers....I've traced my g-grandfather, Aurelious and his brother, James Allen West....but, have made little headway on his brothers....there were 8 boys and I'm not certain if all the boys made it to adulthood; but I do have their full names and birthdates. 1. [WEST-L] West Line in Texas
    2. Franigan
    3. Hello again! I am very curious as to whether or not anyone has a record of anyone in their West family lines that lived to be around 100 yrs old -- especially a wife of a West male. My Grandfather, William Henry Rogers (born in Montague County, Texas and died in Stephens County, Oklahoma) died in November of 1955. On a recent trip I was happy to find that my Aunt still had his funeral book. But -- I was amazed as I read through the "sent flowers" pages and my eyes fell upon the simple entry "Grandmother West". My grandfather was born in 1885, his older sister (Mary/Molly) was born in 1880. Let's say, for the sake of argument his mother (Martha/Mattie) was only 13 when she married and 14 when she had her first child. That would make her born about 1866. So, if her mother was only 13 when she married she would have been born about 1853. That would have made her at least 98 years old when my grandfather died. Which would further explain why she sent flowers but did not attend the funeral. I have been searching for Mattie since the 1980s -- she died in about 1891 after the birth of her 3rd child, John. My best guesstimate is that she is buried in Denton County, Texas but I have no proof one way or the other. John was born in Tioga, Denton County. Can anyone help me with any kind of straw to snatch at??? Isn't family fun! Fran

    1. [WEST-L] Wilmore West
    2. I found Wilmore West's obituary in the Denton Journal, Denton Maryland. I also have Wests in Frederick County, Maryland. I've collected a lot of names that I haven't linked yet. My great uncle for example, Cornelius West died in LeGore, Maryland and was buried in Thurmont. Any specific names you can give me? I'll check out my notes and we'll see if we can help one another. 1. [WEST-L] Wilmore West MD Nantocoke Hundred OBIT
    2. Does this obituary sound familiar to anyone? I located it in the Denton (MD) Journal. 26 January 1889 Mr. Wilmore West, residing in Natocoke hundred, about tow-and-a-half miles from Georgetown, died recently, aged 65 years, 6 months and 1 day. Mr. West came of a numerous family and was himself the father of thirty-nine children, nineteen of whom were by his first wife. I would love to link my Wests to this family. I have Wests in Frederick, MD (LeGore, Thurmont and other areas) and Franklin county, PA. My great-grandfather was Thomas West born about 1815. I believe my GF brother John, moved to Va ? and married but lost after that. (I don't have any real proof of this.) It's a long shot but with all these John West's, any lead helps. 2. Susan, Congratulations on your findings in the family Bible. My Grandmother who is also a brick wall was born December 11, 1833 in Georgia; married John James Hall Sr January 02, 1850. Your information is as close as I have come to a discovery. Do you know who your Sarah married? 3. Ginny: I sure don't. This document actually is a typewritten list that fell out of my grandmother's check register. I have no idea who even typed it up, it is old and the paper very brittle. I chased a Temperance Sharp that married a Majer West for a long time. They were married in Baldwin County, Georgia. Though the date is about a year off of what this paper says. 3. I wish you lots of luck! Better than mine. I keep running into pages I don't understand, with locations like, Y. or EJ. or even numbers like 3. I must not have been raised right. Those don't mean a thig to me, and I keep wondering if it is the person who created the page, or just me! Luck, again, Marty ---- Original Message ---- From: [email protected] To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [WEST-L] Ruth West -MA m. 3. Ginnie, Would you please give your Grandmother's name and location? Maybe I could look around and see if I can find her.
