I know...I feel the same way but I can't see how they fit... My Thomas was born in TN and moved to Texas. My grandmother, Jessie was born in Childress, TX in 1901. Her mother was Sarah Webb - and she was born in Arkansas and died in Texas - somewhere between 1903 and 1910. Thomas died in CA in 1927 while living with my Father and his family. My Thomas was born in 1860 - (61?) and his parents were Olinda Smith and Jeffrey West.. The only Thomas that I have noted was back in PA / VA - Joseph West & Jane Owen who married on March 6, 1739 in Chester County, PA. I am not certain about his birthdate...but he reportedly died in TN in Jan 1796 and is buried in the Cherokee Baptist cemetary in Washington County, TN. How is your searching going? I am sort of halted right now...not finding anything new to note. I'll keep looking and let you know if I find anything else. That sure is funny - who was your Thomas West married to? I believe he died on 9/12/1802 in Virginia. Their son, Isaac (Sr) was made 4 great grandpa, Isaac, Jr. was my 3 great, Jeffrey West my 2 great, Thomas Conley my great and his daughter, Jessie Belle my grandma. Jessie was born in Texas Thomas was born in Tennessee Jeffrey was born in Tennessee Isaac (Jr) was born in Virginia - but died in TN Isaac (Sr) was born in either PA or Montgomery, VA..died in VA Joseph was born in Springfield, Delaware, PA and died in Pittsylvania Co., , Va John West was born in England. I found a Samuel West (2 March 1811-2 January 1889) in Cedar Grove Cemetery in Chambersburg,Franklin county, PA. He was married to Elizabeth Bittinger 14 July 1813-9 Sept. 1894. I compiled a lot on his family hoping to tie him to my great-grandfather Thomas born about 1815. The earliest I can account for Samuel is 1840 . In the 1843 tax records Thomas was in Guilford Twp, Samuel in Hamilton, a George in Quincy twp and Jeremiah in Antrim Twp. Can anyone connect to any of them? Hi JoEllen, I also have a Samuel West noted in my history. Son of John West (b 1690-1776) & Susannah Pierson (b. 1697-1756). Samuel West born about 1726/27 in PA. He was my 6 Great Uncle. I have John and Susannah as having 10 children, Joseph (my lne), William, Samuel, Hannah, Mary, Rachel, John, Benjamin, Elizabeth and Hugh. I believe that John must have returned to England after Susannah's death - as he is noted to have died in Oct 1776 in Marlborough, Oxford, England. Susannah died in 1756 in Upper Providence, PA and may be buried in Chester, PA. John's paretns were Thomas (Major) West and Rachel Gilpin and Susannah's parents were Thomas Pierson and Margery Smith. I have additional info on this family if it fits...let me know and good luck!! Lisa, This is certainly something to think about. Over the past 25 - 30 years I've become very well acquainted with a professional researcher in Salt Lake City and he is LDS. He has done some very good British research for me since my father-in-law was born in the UK. During this time I have shared much of my accumulated records with him and he has put them in the LDS church records in Salt Lake City (with my permission). This was the result of our discussion of what might happen to my many years of research if no one else in my family wants to carry on with it. As he said--they will live on "forever" there. I know this would not work for everyone, but feel that I am comfortable with it. Every now and then I see some of my info in the LDS on-line web sites--a particular family that does not have a lot of research work shown on-line. Doris
