My Parker West had a son Isaac who went to Missouri, lived in Folker, Clark Co., Missouri, had a son listed as L Z West. Born in 1872 or there abouts, in Missouri. I haven't run his line down yet. If he had a Parker West, I don't know. What time frame are you talking about. There were several folks named Philip Parker West in this family line. I have it that L Z West died 22 Jan 1896 in Folker, Clark, Co., MO. ----- Original Message ----- From: Shirley Winkelhoch To: WEST-L@rootsweb.com Sent: Saturday, April 08, 2006 8:52 PM Subject: Re: [WEST-L] Willis West Do you know of a Parker West who came to Missouri? It's a large file: 47 or so pages. Some of the lines are of no interest to me but all of the West information might just help you who are looking for lost West's. Sandra, I'd love to see the list your cousin compiled. I'd like it in Word, and will be ever so grateful. Thank you in advance. Shirley West Beebe
I ask about these Wests every so often, but here goes again just in case. The Wests I'm concerned with lived in Ohio and Kentucky from about 1810 to 1910 when they moved further West to Montana and Washington State. Collateral family names are: Shipley, Pointer, Armstrong, Tolle and Lee. A peculiarity I think I've traced to the Shipleys is that some of them, including several in my family, are missing either the upper-right eyetooth, or the one in the opposing lower-left quadrant. I'm missing one, my brother misses the other, and my son is missing both. My grandfather, James Pointer West married Estella Shipley in West Union. Ohio in about 1890. His father, George West, married Abigail Pointer there in 1865. His parents were Samuel West and Nancy Story who were married in Bracken Co., KY about 1846. I've been searching for Samuel's parents without success for many years. Recent DNA testing may have confirmed a match with Martin West of Australia, but all we know so far is that we probably share common ancestry within the time frame of family surnames having been adopted. Our records are there to be seen in the WEST family DNA information on line, and we're eagerly waiting for more Wests to be tested. Hope this information rings a bell with someone out there. Shirley West Beebe
Take a look at this. I am still looking too. http://www.othermetis.net/AboGene/Gene.html
We also have the scooped front teeth. There is something to do with the eye teeth I think--maybe one prong in back for Native American and two for European, etc. We have the one prong on the back of all teeth so I cannot remember which one it was. I cannot necessarily attribute it to the West line because I have Native American coming in from nearly every line. If I can find where I read about the other teeth I will update you. Mariah Jane was born in 1846 in Delaware if anyone happens to come across anything. I did find a Jane West born in 1850 with Wilmer West in Nanticoke Hundred, which could be her, but I am not sure. I, too, have RH-negative blood. I have, however, been unable to trace my West line before my great, great grandmother Mariah Jane West. Hello Edith (Kendrick) Gomez: I saw your recent letter to the West List, and your TN/MS connection caught my eye. My name is Joe West, and my oldest known ancestor was William Berry West, born 1822 in Tennessee, and died about 1887 in Marshall County, Mississippi. This timing and location relates very closely to your ancestor James West, who you say was born 1818 in TN and died around 1920 in Marshall County, Mississippi. Do you know where in TN your James West was born, and do you know the names of his parents or any of his siblings? In the 1880 census, my William Berry West indicated that both of his parents were born in North Carolina, but we do not know where in NC, or their names. My William Berry West and his first wife Mary Polly Swain had 12 children, but only 3 of the children were boys. The boys names were John Thomas West, Andrew Claude West, and Jesse Berry West. I have been through the West DNA process, and had no significant matches. I did have a couple of matches with the first 12 markers, but when that was extended to 25 and then to 37 markers there were significant differences, indicating that any relationship, if any, might be many hundred years back. Your name seems familiar, so we might have corresponded before. However, I write to so many people I can't keep up with them all. Thanks for your help. I don't have any of the crooked little fingers or scooped out teeth that so much has been written about in the list lately. And my blood type is O Positive. I have two family members with RH-negative blood, my older sister in CA and a niece in WA. My question is will that help in finding our West connection better? I have been told there could be indian in one of my lines, Manning or West or Ragsdale. We have for the most part high cheek bones as well. I have an uncle, Hugh West Manning, that really looks like he could be of indian blood. Edith (Kendrick) Gomez ==== WEST Mailing List ==== Families are like fudge. Mostly sweet with a few nuts.
Carl: He was born 1887 in Pembina, ND, the family then migrated by wagon through Montana to Baker, OR. His parents and families sailed from Hull, England to PEI, Canada. He was my grandfather on mothers side of my family.
