Where possible, I've included a transcript from the Portland Year Book for 1905, giving details of ministers, church and school officers with times of services, and the many chapels or places or worship that are no longer identifiable. Although most of the info is for 1905, it makes more than clear that over 40% of the church going population was probably attending non-conforming services as stated in the Church Census for 1851.
