G'day Making an enquiry for a correspondent without email access. Please note this is not my family; an entry in my GLS & Bristol born Immigrants to Australia pre 1888 index. Moses WILTON arrived VIC May 1853 said aged 21. Travelling on the same ship and listed with him are WILTON ALBERT 32 MAY 1853 PRINCE ARTHUR B 37 4 WILTON EDWIN ---- MAY 1853 PRINCE ARTHUR B 37 4 WILTON ELIZA 34 MAY 1853 PRINCE ARTHUR B 37 4 WILTON ELIZA 6 MAY 1853 PRINCE ARTHUR B 37 4 it would be a coincidence if they were not related. I can find no other mention of this family in Oz (unless they went to QLD.) Moses WILTON married 1868; said born Bath SOM. After the death of his first wife he married again; this time said born ?????field GLS, parents Joseph and Mary nee LEWIS. Still gives birth c1832. This may be him mis-transcribed in 1851 census; age is out but mother's name fits and father is dead; ????field could be Marshfield. 1944 1851 CENSUS HO107/1944 FF.0001 - 0018 ED.1 & 2 BITTON 1 Piece: 1944 Folio: 0011 Schedule: 008 Address: Kelston Park WITTON Mary HD M 47 House Keeper GLS Marshfield (c1804) WITTON Moses SO U 23 Ag Lab SOM Kelston (c1828) WITTON Joseph SO - 11 Scholar SOM Kelston (c1840) Whizz-bang new GLS Marriage Index shows Joseph WILTON married Mary HOLLIS (this is probably a mis-read from the VIC cert) 28 Feb 1825 Marshfield, which all hangs together OK. The Free BMD gives many possible deaths for a Jospeh WILTON 1839-1851 but Sep Q 1845 Bath 11/3 looks quite promising. Any knowledge out there that could help my correspondent?
