    3. My forebear, Samuel HARFORD, who claimed to be from Tisbury was baptised at Heytesbury at the same time as his brother Robert. He was married at Heytesbury and at the time of his arrest for Machine Breaking was living at Heytesbury. Later after his pardon when applying to emigrate he again stated that his residence was Heytesbury. However, his convict records give his NP (presumably native place/parish) as Tisbury. From the baptism his parents names are William and Elizabeth HARFORD. I can find not other records for these parents at Heytesbury so wonder if they were from Tisbury. Hope some one can throw some light on this. He too was involved with Wardour. I do not know why he claimed Tisbury as his place of birth - was it the nearest 'big' village with the 'big' church? (In the same way that when we're abroad we say that we're from Sheffield - 'cos noone's heard of Rotherham!)
