James White was born in Yeovil in about 1816, the son of William White. He married Jane Burbage and had a son Herbert and a daughter Mary Jane. This much I am certain of, and have a lot of information to share with anyone who is interested. Family "lore" says that James was in some way connected with the White family who were important tradesmen in the town, running a furnishing and upholstery business, and at one period owning a skating rink. This family consisted of Henry White (1839-1901) married Caroline Rosa (surname unknown) (1843-1918) and had sons Albert Ernest (1874-1924), William Henry C (1871-1917) and Frederick Arthur (1877-1881), all of whom died unmarried. Does anybody know anything about them which could help me? Even negative information would be helpful! Finally, Elizabeth Daich reported the death of William White in 1845 and Elizabeth his wife in 1840. It seems to me to be likely that she is a relative, as she registered both deaths.
