Dear Sally and all, I saw your interest in WILLIAMS and ALLEN in Somerset earlier this month. My great great grandmother was Mary Ann Williams who was born about 1829 at Freshford near Bradford-on-Avon in Wiltshire. She married John Humphries (junior) in 1851 and they lived at Hinton Charterhouse near Bath in Somerset. Mary Ann's father and grandfather were both Robert Williams' from Ditcheat, Somerset but I don't know from where the Williams family originated. My great great great grandmother was Mary Allen who was born about 1795 at Hinton Charterhouse and married in 1820 there to John Humphries (senior). Mary's ancestors were (probably) George, John and William Allen taking it back to about 1680 at Hinton Charterhouse. Where in Somerset do your Williams and Allen families live ?
