Hi I have just found a memorial card for my G/G/Grandmother Harriett Bristow who died in 1914.it says she was interned with her late husband Stephen in Southampton Cemetery.What I would like to know is with so many different cemeteries around Southampton which cemetery is this likely to be? Thanks Steve

    3. Hi Steve, It is probably Hill Lane Cemetery on Southampton Common, although it could also be Hollybrook Cemetery. However, Hollybrook is not usually referred to as "Southampton Cemetery" If you write to Bereavement Services, Southampton City Council, they can give you details of the place and location of all municipal burials in the city. (Churchyard burials do not come under their jurisdiction) Hampshire Genealogical Society have transcribed all the gravestones in Hampshire. You may be able to purchase microfiche copies of their transcriptions - but I do know a copy has been deposited in the Hampshire Record Office at Winchester.
