Hi list, I wonder if someone would please be kind enough to check the 1841 census for Milverton, for a James Pring,who is married to Eliza, with daughter Mary Jane, aged about 4. All born Milverton. They are on the 1851 in Milverton, James aged 41, ag lab. Eliza 39, laundress and Mary Jane 14, scholar. all born Milverton. By the 1861 they were in Cardiff, James aged 55, Eliza 49.again, both born Milverton. I have the 1871 cd's for Glamorgan, but cannot find them as yet but it seems they are not on the Ancestry 1871. They, or another couple with the same names, both born Milverton, are on the 1881 in Cardiff, James aged 57 and Eliza 68 so there is something amiss there, though Eliza's age is about right. James & Eliza married in 1836, I have a copy of the parish record to confirm this. I think I can discount the age for James on the 1881 as that would mean his birth year was c 1824, and as he married in 1836, that would have made him 12 at time of marriage. If someone could find him on the 1841 aged about 31, with Eliza and Mary Jane, that would give me an approximate birth year to go on Many thanks Ann
Hi Andrea, Not the 1841 census for you but the 1871 in Glamorgan, this finds the same couple as in 1861 but this time they are lodgers in the household with their daughter Mary and husband. Ancestry has tried to record from the handwriting available but I can send you the image if you require. Regards Jean.
