    1. PURVIS / EDEN, Devon, 1900s

    3. My brick wall in Wessex has long been what happened to the sister of my great grandmother. Frances Mary Helen Purvis was included with her father in the 1891 census, living at "Melrose", Highweek, Devon. She was age 20 and single. My grandmother said that Fanny married someone named Eden, and they had settled in or near Plymouth. Indeed when her father died in 1895 she was the informant and signed herself "Fanny Eden", so had married, if she did marry, by then. But I have looked in the GRO indexes several times and not found the entry. Fanny and her husband had, again according to my Gran, two daughters, Dorothy and Nora. It might have helped if her father, a rear-admiral, had left a will, but none exists. Does anyone recognise these names? Thanks Ron Dunning
