    3. Julia, Just to let you know that I can't find their marriage on the Dorset Parish Records CD (Phillimores). Below is a list of parishes checked, and dates. Most records go up to 1812, but some (such as Poorton) only seem to cover up to 1747, so your couple may have been married in one of those parishes, also I suspect that non-conformist churches may not be covered by Phillimores records. The other thing could be that Dorset borders with several counties (e.g. Devon, Somerset, Wilts), so they may have married in a neighbouring county that was actually just the next village. I think the borders also changed at various times too.
