Hi Meg I'll just butt in here with one answer to your query re location of records. If you have a LDS Family History centre within travelling distance for you parish records and/or bishop's transcripts can be ordered for the churches in Devizes. Many churches are listed on the LDS web site http://www.familysearch.org under the library section and you can also look to see where the nearest LDS centre to you is located. Two Church of England churches mentioned that cover the early 1880s are St Mary's and St John the Baptist. There are also Presbyterian, Congregational, Baptist and more churches mentioned for that time period. If you are not used to searching on their site let me know and I can help you navigate it. I use their facilities frequently because there is access to so many church records as well as other records through their filming projects for just a nominal handling charge for one month. Good luck Marjorie >Thank you so much for this information. I did have some of it, particularly >during their period in London but is very helpful to have some feel for >where Eliza was at each census. I now have the death certs of all three >(Joseph, Ann and Eliza) and you are right in all your comments. I have >never been able to pin down Joseph's parents. Do you know if there are any >local records for the period he was born (1800ish)? > >Regards, Meg
