Hi all, I have a brickwall with my great great grandfather Richard FOOT(E) (1809-1864) I can't find his birth/baptism - so can't find his parents. He married in Castleton, Dorset in 1829 a minor aged 20 - so born about 1809 but I don't think the consent, if any, has survived. On all censuses during his lifetime he claimed to have been born in Sherborne, Dorset, where he lived. Interestingly both he and his wife dropped their ages by 2 years in the 1851 and 1861 censuses but are recorded with correct ages at death. I haven't done an exhaustive search of parishes around Sherborne for a baptism but have looked at quite a number - though it's mostly the BTs available through LDS in Australia. Others have checked the Sherborne PR for me without success. I keep an eye on www.familyhistoryonline.com for updates to the Dorset Baptism index. He may be connected to the FOOT families in Sherborne who were lawyers/solicitors as one of his children became a solicitor's clerk - but this may just be coincidence. He himself was a Shopman/Draper. Any ideas welcome, Cathy
