Hi All has anyone come across Benoke in Ilfracombe or Winscombe, looking for info on Hoope Scott Benoke born circ 1851 Ilfracombe. Sally
Hi Sally, Lots of Benoke with Ilfracombe connections in 1881 west country census but no Hoope(r) Scott. He was old enough to have moved away. Try 1881 nationwide. Hi Kevin, I have found your man in 1861 and in 1901. Not a lot of help for you as in 1861 he is living in Winscombe with his grandparents. He is 10 yrs old and they are Giles 1797 and Sidonia 1791 Williams. Giles was formerly a shoe maker and both born Wedmore SOM. In 1871 there is a William Benoke same age born Ilfracombe who is a lodger in a household in Stafford his occupation is a painter. In 1901 he is a widr and boarder also a House Painter in a household in Penarth, GLA. On various census returns there are these Benokes all born Ilfracombe in the same time scale. John Benoke 1849, Lawrence Henry 1853, Richard G.A 1855, William 1859. Regards Jean. ----- Original Message ----- From: "kevin mcmahon" <kevin@emmcmahon.fsnet.co.uk> To: <WESSEX-PLUS-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, May 04, 2005 7:36 PM Subject: [WSX] Benoke family Devon and Somerset > Hi All > > has anyone come across Benoke in Ilfracombe or Winscombe, looking for info on Hoope Scott Benoke born circ 1851 Ilfracombe. > > Sally > > > > ==== WESSEX-PLUS Mailing List ==== > We encourage family history connected with Wessex ie names, places, history, recipes, poems - but do not post any website of a commercial nature as this is against Rootswebs AUP policy > >
Hi Jean Many thanks, I had some of this info, as I have been looking at sites on the net. Trouble is it is really the 1841 and 1851 one I need to see who his parents were and what other Benokes were around in Ilfracombe. Have a good weekend.
