Hi All, I have a puzzle. I have a John AMOR who we thought married a Sarah Ann ? Have been able to find any info on this couple. John was born abt 1811 and married around 1841. I have a marriage of a john to Martha Ann but don't think this is the right one. Any help would be greatly appreciated. John was born in Milton. He died in Pewsey in 1892. Thank you, Kay
Hi Again Kay, Further to my previous message I think I might be able to clarify this for you. In the 1851 census for Pewsey John Amor (shoemaker) is listed at 39 with wife Martha and 7 children - I think Martha is Johns second wife she is 11 years younger than John and since the first child is 13 she would have been 14/15 had he been hers - which is of course not impossible but maybe not likely. Added to which I have details of 4 of the children (names and ages fit) from the Milton Registers born to John and Sarah (on the last baptism (Louisa) John is shown as a Shoemaker from Pewsey). I think the first 5 or 6 children in the census may be John and Sarah's and the last child John and Martha's. If you think this is right I'll send the baptism/census details to you off list if you haven't got them.
