Thanks Philip Lombard This is the wording of the Bastardy Bond: 1807 'Charles BAILEY of Littleham, Exmouth did beget the said bastard child on the body of her the said Elizabeth(sic) LUMBARD and whereas the said Charles BAILEY hath appeared before the said justices the said justices hath not showed any cause why he should not be adjudged the reputed fatherof the bastard child.' Charles was ordered to pay 3 shillings and 1s 3d every week after that.Elizabeth(sic) was ordered to pay 6d.
