If anyone has lost a non-conformist ancestor, one explanation could be a "mobile register" which moved with the minister rather than staying at the church/chapel. Such registers would of course be very difficult to track down, but this example (reproduced with permission from a Derbyshire lister) just may provide a new lead for someone ... llkeston Presbyterian Baptisms (at the DRO) >this register started life in London, where the first baptism is for 1735, >as the minister(s) moved other places began to get entered including >Cirencester, Fairford, Abingdon, Witney and Burford. From 1750 - further >north Nottingham gets mentioned many times ... The rest of the entries >are Derbyshire ones. Good luck! Celia
