I dont have any mysteries in my family tree, but what I do have is a lack of time to do much research offline. I have been looking for parish registers (births, marriages) for the areas of Chard, Axbridge and Cheddar; online or on disks. Unfortunately so far I have found nothing at all and am coming rapidly to the conclusion that I will have to shelve much of my tree-tracing until I have more time to get out and about, and visit Somerset Records Office. Does anyone know if these have been produced in digital format? I am looking particularly at early 1800's and backwards. Chris, I read you posting and I agree. Pre-1800 records are hard to come by. I'm afraid I can't help you, but I did just want to say one thing (actually two). I was having no luck whatsoever. Then I found that my family, very unbeknownst to me, was at that time Quaker. And then I started digging in Quaker records. I have another branch that is Baptist. All I can say is that you might have to be willing to consider non-Conformist sources. I did, on the other hand, have some good luck with the SRO when I went to England in 1993 and 1995. Although there are some references on-line to their collection(s), a visit may be well worth it. Good luck!
