I have a copy of the Universal Home Doctor that was my father's and I nearly disposed of it but have found it invaluable for looking at causes of death. There is listed a condition called Phlegmasia which reads This term applies to a condition which may occur during the lying-in period of childbirth in which the leg or legs become swollen, due to phlebitis, or inflammation of the veins. The condition is medically known as phlegmasia alba dolens but is more commonly called white leg. Hope this helps Mandy
