My great grandfather was christened and buried [ certificates for both events agree ] as James Charles Bartlett HALLETT yet was married, also in 1870, as Charles James Bartlett HALLETT and was known as Charles. I assume this was to avoid confusion with his father James. If I were Annette I would put my money on buying the certificate for John George CAWTE to see if parents are correct.
