I'm not totally sure of this but this name seems to ring a bell with the 1851 census for Wooton Bassett which I have. I think the year might be right too. I'll have to take a look later to confirm. I'm still looking for the baptism of Mary Ann Chesterman, probably around 1800 But now I have a theory <g> The chap I believe to be Mary Ann's father - Isaac Chesterman, married Mary Turner at Cirencester in 1800. A Mary Turner baptised a daughter 'Mary Ann' with her husband (Whose name I have mislaid) Mr Turner at Cirencester in Feb 1800. The theory goes like this - If Mr Turner passed away between conception and baptism of Mary Ann, then Mary Turner (nee ?) would be at freedom to re marry & perhaps she remarried Isaac Chesterman. Mary Ann would never have known she was not a Chesterman and would always have used that surname.... So is there anyone who could have a quick look at the Cirencester records to see if the Mary Turner married by Isaac Chesterman in 1800 was a widow?
