Wendy I was looking on the Familysearch IGI on internet searching Thomas & William BARKER and only success in Oxford was William Barker, christened 20 Oct 1771, Cuddesdon, Oxford, England: Parents: Thomas BARKER & Elizabeth. My William married an Emily ARCHER (in Australia) and children were named: Elizabeth, Emily, William, Valentine, James(dec'd), Elizabeth (dec'd) and Margaret (dec'd) I suppose there was no New Town near Cuddesdon ? Not much of Oxfordshire is on the IGI, so searching what *is* there gives a distorted view of the county's surname distribution. But yes, most BARKERs occur in & around Cuddesdon and no, I couldn't find you a Newtown thereabouts. -- Wendy Archer Marlow, Bucks, UK wharcher@cvd.co.uk
