    1. [WSX] HICK or KICK, Bristol, 1820's

    3. G'day >From the BVRI HICK, Thirza Christening Sex: Female Christening Date: 28 May 1826 Recorded in: Westbury-On-Trym, Gloucester, England Father: George HICK Mother: Mary Source: FHL Number 1595527 Dates: 1714-1838 This is the only bapt to George and Mary. On Thirza's marriage in VIC and on the birth of her child her maiden name is given as KICK. Likewise on her death in 1878 (after a second marriage) her father is given as George KICK. Any knowledge about this difficult name? Could it be HICKS? No sign of any likely family I can see on 1851 Bristol or GLS census, except for a tempting looking family, George & Mary HICKS at Bitton. I assume Thirza was either in Oz or on her way in 1851. Please note this is not my family; an entry on my GLS Immigrants to Australia pre 1888 Index. Regards Kaye Kaye Purnell <kayepur@ozemail.com.au> Ancestors from GLS who came to Oz? Database kept on GLS arrivals to AUS pre 1888. Entries happily accepted; searches done.
