ANNIE ELIZA GREENWAY nee Notley - born at Southampton circa July 1863, married SAMUEL PRING GREENWAY [St.Mary's, Southampton] 2nd. November 1890. They lived at 23 Weymouth Terrace, Southampton, where Samuel died February 1907. At the date of his death Annie Eliza was aged 44yrs.. I have abortively tried to trace the date and place of Annie Eliza Greenway's death. I thought I had found it among the GRO/Southampton [Death Entries] for March quarter 1941, but alas! - that turned out to be a person of the same name and age, but it was NOT 'my lady'. Is there a fellow lister who would consider trawling indexes etc., which covered a reasonable period after the 1907 death of Samuel P. Greenway, all in the hope of finding the date of my Annie Eliza's departure from this life. I shall be most grateful for any assistance. Alec Palmer. Weymouth. iii. iii. mmi.
Hi Alec The Dorset County Record Office at Dorchester hold The General Register Office indexes to births, marriages and deaths for England and Wales 1837-1992. Alternatively, if you are fairly certain she died Southampton another option may be to approach Southampton Corporation to ask them to search their cemetery records, but I wouldn't know what sort of fee they are likely to charge, if any? Perhaps the Hants FHS may have indexed these records? It might be an idea to see if Annie Eliza remarried after the death of her husband. If she did remarry, her death would be under another name. After all she was only 44 when he died. Good luck.
