Also BALCH, Shepton Mallet & Ditcheat Som TOVEY/ WASLEY Glous Holland Martin Family - Glous Isle of Wright during 1914-18. DENNING - Stroud? - Glous. g-gfather James William Ivor Denning b.1875 (Possibly had a half brother called Edward with connections in Weston Super Mare married Florence, dau. Rosemary.) DUNN - Lancs? - Glous - Somerset - James Denning m. Elisabeth Mary Dunn b. Eccles? (Do not know whether this is Eccles Lancs or Eccles of Winchcombe census district Glous.) Elisabeth Mary's mother Mary Jane Dunn - first husband died of TB. Later married GEO. BALCH of Shepton Mallet and lived in Ditcheat, Som. Other Dunn Children: Maude Dunn - Spinster (never married) Thomas Dunn - petty officer RN (wife's name Ethel) May have become a publican in SW Louisa Dunn m, Alfred WATTS lived Westbury Wilts. Joseph Dunn - merchant navy (capt?) William Dunn - lived Honition Devon, had two sons, Gordon who died in Blitz WWII, 1 other and dau. called May DUNN George Dunn - m French woman then a Belgian - lived near Notre Dame Paris during WWII My g-grandfather James DENNING was a soldier from age 16, then a miner in the Rhondda, Welch Regiment from 1891-c.1903/4 (when he married). Does anyone have any info in Welch Reg during that time? In 1914 rejoined Duke of Cornwall's Light Infantry - Regimental Curator speculates as he was 39 yrs probably stationed on ISLE OF WRIGHT where training carried out. Can anyone tell me how I might find out more about his Isle of Wright sojourn? (I can suppy his army number) TOVEY -g-grandfather Charles TOVEY b. Cheltenham 1841 m Leah b. Hereford 1875 (Like to know her maiden name) g.g-father William Charles TOVEY b Cheltenham 1875 - had a sister called Alice G and two half sisters Diana and Catherine (half-sisters both dead by 1895) William was supposed to have been orphaned in Cheltenham, said to be one of 5 children, brought up by a minister in Cheltenham. Can anyone help with this? William C TOVEY later married Minnie WASLEY b. Overbury 1878 she was the dau of Thomas WASLEY b.Bangrove 1834? and Emma (GREEN?) Gretton/Alderton? b. 1835 Living, Bishop's Cleeve Glous 1881 WASLEY Children: Kate WASLEY -b. Longdon 1861 m HEWITT - kept shop in Tewkesbury Glous Bertha (know of her decendents) Agnes WASLEY b. Gretton 1870 m James BEVAN journeyman/carpenter. Edna/Ada WASLEYb.Overbury, 1873 Sidney WASLEY died young? Minnie Louisa (my g-grandmother) Their Father THOMAS WASLEY son of WILLIAM WASLEY and ANN (?) Wm born about 1800 Teddington/Bangrove Glous. Would Like to know more about him.
