    1. [WSX] GATCUM and variants
    2. Hello everyone I am a new subscriber to Wessex (just 'crossed-over' from the Hampshire list !!). I'm researching the GATCUM family (and variants) and have so far, traced them back to: Richard GADCOMBE Date of birth unknown (circa 1727?) , but his indenture papers state that he was the son of Richard of Chilbolton. I can't find a baptism for Richard, but there is a record of a baptism in Chilbolton on 6 January 1729 or 1730, for William GADCOMBE, son of Richard Gadcombe. (Could this have been Richard's brother??) Richard GADCOMBE was an indentured apprentice to John SHORT, of Newton Stacey in the Parish of Barton Stacey in October 1743, to learn the craft of Wheelwright. The full period (7 years) was served and Richard came to Farnham in Surrey. (He Anne FIGGE in Farnham on 22 December 1751). Any connections out there?? Regards Joy Waters
