However, although there aren't any Gildings in Twyford there are a couple of families living just down the road at Littlewick Green, which in those days came under the nearby parish of White Waltham! There was also another family living further away to the east, at Bray - of Vicar fame: these are the entries for the 3 families from the 1881 census: >Dwelling: Cherry Garden Lane Census Place: White Waltham, Berkshire, England > Source: FHL Film 1341319 PRO Ref RG11 Piece 1315 Folio 88 Page 15 > Marr Age Sex Birthplace >Edward GILDING M 72 M White Waltham, Berkshire, England > Rel: Head Occ: Agric Laborer >Harriet GILDING M 64 F Swincombe, Oxford, England > Rel: Wife Occ: Laundress >Eliza GILDING U 25 F Hurley, Berkshire, England > Rel: Daug Occ: Laundress > Dwelling: Little Row Census Place: Bray, Berkshire, England > Source: FHL Film 1341319 PRO Ref RG11 Piece 1315 Folio 11 Page 16 > Marr Age Sex Birthplace >William GILDING M 43 M Bray, Berkshire, England > Rel: Head Occ: Ag Lab >Sarah GILDING M 45 F Hurley, Berkshire, England > Rel: Wife >Henry GILDING U 14 M White Waltham, Berkshire, England > Rel: Son Occ: Errand Boy >James GILDING 11 M Bray, Berkshire, England > Rel: Son Occ: Scholar >Annie GILDING 8 F Bray, Berkshire, England > Rel: Dau Occ: Scholar >Mary E. Apologies for the long posting, but they do all seem to be connected in many ways, if only by coincidence? Regards Paul Portland
