    1. [WSX] NORTH LEW, DEVON - PARISH RECORDS - SHOBBROOK FAMILY
    2. Adrian Parry
    3. I obtained a copy of a family tree for my SHOBBROOK forebears about 2 years ago from Exbourne. There was a gap in the tree for baptisms at North Lew between William who was christened on 1 April 1724 and Thomas in 1741. However there was a note to the effect that some records were lost in a fire at Ashbury House in 1877. Is it correct that these were records lost, please? Do bishop's transcripts exist and if they do, how is it possible to access them, please? TIA Adrian Yorkshire Researching Devon - LUSCOMBE, SHOBBROOK, PERRIAM, PITTS, QUICK & CORNISH. 3. Hi Adrian Might be worth asking the Devon Record Office at: devrec@devon.gov.uk but I note that at: http://www.devon.gov.uk/dro/register/regisa-e.html they say they only have BMD for: EXBOURNE 1769-1870 1755-1837 1769-1812 LDS only hold: >England, Devon, Exbourne - Census >England, Devon, Exbourne - Court records >England, Devon, Exbourne - Taxation At: http://www.cs.ncl.ac.uk/genuki/DEV/Exbourne/index.html#ChurchRecords Genuki says: >Parish Registers going back to 1755 are held in the Devon Record Office Doesn't look good Adrian :-( Regards Paul Portland On Sat, 3 Feb 2001 05:59:03 -0000, you wrote: >I obtained a copy of a family tree for my SHOBBROOK forebears about 2 years >ago from Exbourne.
