Gary Benton asks: >Could someone tell me the post code for Water Eaton ... located about 2 miles south/southeast of Cricklade, Wilts. ??< Water Eaton House is SN6 6JT, grid reference SU127937 The place shown as Water Eaton on the first Ordnance Survey 1" to 1 mile map is shown on modern maps as Seven Bridges Farm and Kingshill Farm and has postcode SN6 6JS for both, grid reference SU123926 for Seven Bridges Farm. The way I find these (for the maps I am adding to GENUKI Wiltshire) is to use the search at: http://www.streetmap.co.uk/ You can search by place name, or postcode, or grid reference. If you search on a nearby place (Cricklade in this case) you can click on the point of interest and the map re-centres on your choice. In small print below the map it offers you: Click . . . here to convert/measure co-ordinates. Choose this, and you are shown post code, grid reference, latitude/longitude, etc. You can also zoom in and out on the maps to see very detailed street maps, or roughly where you are in Wiltshire. regards, David Hawgood.
It is shown as Seven Bridges (no mention of farm) on my copy of O.S.Sheet 173. ----- Original Message ----- From: "David Hawgood" <David_Hawgood@compuserve.com> To: <WESSEX-PLUS-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, April 02, 2001 10:11 AM Subject: [WSX] Water Eaton House, Wilts. > Gary Benton asks: > >Could someone tell me the post code for Water Eaton ... located about 2 > miles > south/southeast of Cricklade, Wilts. ??< > > Water Eaton House is SN6 6JT, grid reference SU127937 > > The place shown as Water Eaton on the first Ordnance Survey 1" to 1 mile > map is shown on modern maps as Seven Bridges Farm and Kingshill Farm and > has postcode SN6 6JS for both, grid reference SU123926 for Seven Bridges > Farm. > > The way I find these (for the maps I am adding to GENUKI Wiltshire) is to > use the search at: > http://www.streetmap.co.uk/ > You can search by place name, or postcode, or grid reference.
