Hi everyone, I am trying to find info. on my grandmother's husband's family - JOHNSON. Her husband was WILLIAM GEORGE JOHNSON and was born on 24/4/1873 at 40 KINGSTON RD, ST. GILES, SAINT CLEMENT, OXFORD(District of HEADINGTON). On the Birth Cert., his father was WILLIAM HENRY JOHNSON and a witness was HENRY JAMES JOHNSON, presumably a brother. William Henry's wife was ALICE ELIZABETH JOHNSON(nee PAGE). In the 1930's, William George was a Coal Merchant. I have been unable to trace the family in the 1881 Census. When my Grandmother and William George got married on 6/9/1899, he was listed as from FREEMANTLE Parish, SOUTHAMPTON. Unfortunately, we have no further address details other than the family moved to TOTTON at some time. Any info. gratefully received. Thanks Norman.
