Dear Connie I have been trawling several Parish Registers over the last year or so and have on record the name LEMMON (2 marriages) in Wiveliscombe, Somerset, in the early 1700's.... The marriages concerned are:- 27.11.1724 Susannah LEMMON married John GREEDY in St Andrews, Wiveliscombe 05.11.1733 John LEMMON married Joan COLLARD in St Andrews, Wiveliscombe I know there were other LEMMON entries and as I was not interested in them did not record them. You state that your search area will in all the surrounding counties of Somerset, however, Wiveliscombe close to the border with Devon may be a starting point. My father, William James Lemon was born approx. August 8, or 13, 1908, in Plymouth. According to the records that we have he became a ward of the Scattered Homes of Plymouth at the tender age of 3. We have no records or trace of him from the time of his birth until his admittance into this facility. He remained here until he was transferred to the Liverpool Sheltering Homes, at the age of 15. He only remained here for a short time and than was sent to Canada as part of the Barnardo Organization. My search is for any family member of his, especially his parents. There is no birth certificate, and no birth registration for a child by that name for this time period, or this area of England. My areas for this search would probably be :Devon, Berkshire, Bristol, Gloucestershire, Hampshire, and all the rest I will try them all and see where it gets me. ----Connie---descendant of BHC, William James Lemmon (Lemon)
