Hi Joan Tyler or tiler could also refer to someone who laid tiles internally for flooring and sometimes walls, as well as roofs - tiles made of various materials were a commonly used material in larger UK houses, especially in kitchens and other utility rooms, in the 19th century, which often ties in on the census with someone who is also described as a plasterer ie someone who plasters ceilings and walls internally in larger houses as well perhaps as plastering houses externally, especially when built with plaster and laith.
